Traffic Engineering Training/Reference CD-ROM
New Release Now Available - Better Military Traffic Engineering 2005
First released in June 2002, the interactive multimedia CD-ROM, Better Military Traffic Engineering (BMTE), was developed for personnel with responsibilities relating to traffic operations and roadway design. BMTE was recently updated to include post-September 11 security issues, new information from recently updated sources, like the MUTCD, and improved tools analyzing traffic and road conditions.
The user can use the BMTE CD-ROM as either a training or reference tool. The CD is divided into eight modules, each containing a different traffic
engineering topic: signs and markings, traffic signals, entry control facilities (gates), parking, roadside safety, and intersections. A seventh module called "Do's and Don't's" serves as an interactive review of the other sections.
This comprehensive, interactive training tool features Sergeant Signals, Gannett Fleming/GeoDecisions’ copyrighted cartoon character who introduces users to a broad range of traffic engineering topics. In addition to original illustrations and animations, the BMTE includes:
- Voiceover narration
- Closed captioning (in the event that sound is not possible or wanted)
- Latest News feed - accesses SDDCTEA's Web site to provide traffic engineering news
- Links
to reference materials, Web sites and e-mail for
further assistance
- Traffic engineering calculators,
for reference when planning a variety of traffic engineering projects
- Flash and Shockwave animations
- "Top
ten" traffic engineering safety issues animations
- Video
- Searchable text
